UTD's Side Mount classes are a series of classes that give EVERY diver an opportunity to move into this new and exciting way to configure your equipment and dive in a way that is very "free."

Side Mount diving is becoming wildly popular among recreational open water divers, advanced technical divers, cave divers and wreck divers because it offers the best of all worlds. Tthe advantages of side mount diving include a stable, streamlined platform, ease of movement, and freedom from heavy tanks on your back. The UTD Z-System offers a UTD/DIR-compatible equipment configuration so all levels of divers have consistency in team diving procedures and gear.

For certified divers, the path to training for side mount diving is to cross over at your current level. We offer Essentials of Recreational Side Mount (single or double tank), Essentials of Tech/Cave/Wreck Side Mount (double tank) with the Z-Isolator manifold, and a Side Mount Mini for divers who have completed the UTD Essentials program in back mount.

These workshop-style personal skills classes prepare you to dive side mount at your current level of training and experience. After Essentilals, you will be able to move on to any UTD class in side mount.
