UTD’s Technical Diver program consists of a multi-step process starting with one of the Essentials of Tech classes - back mount, side mount, with or without Nitrox. Following that you can move on to Techreational Diver, 130'/39m with O2 Deco.

Then the  Technical Diver 1 class moves you to 160'/48m using Nitrox 50 or O2 for Deco. Optionally, divers may train to use a stage bottle to conduct multiple technical dives in the same day. This is followed by Technical Diver 2 (our old Trimix 1 class) that goes to 200'/60m with two deco bottles. Technical Diver 3 (our old Trimix 2 class) trains you to 250'/75m, and Tech Gold removes all depth restrictions

These are building block classes that introduce you to deeper depths and staged decompression in a slow progression, first working on bottom skills, then ascent skills and finally mid-water skills.
